Le acciughe fanno il pallone wins the Gold Plaque for the Sculpture category at the Arte Award and the Biffi Prize
Entirely made from recycled materials, specifically old printing plates, is the work of Giulia Santarini, born in Lucca in 1981. Thin and extremely light, the 1,378 anchovies move with the slightest air movement, almost as a tribute to Alexander Calder’s Mobiles, reproducing the natural behavior of fish schools while never losing the elegant compactness of the spherical form. A symbol of the value of solidarity and the strength of the multitude, the work won not only the Gold Plaque but also the Biffi Prize.
